The first floor living area, sumptuously decorated, can be modified to ensure that everyone in your party can dine and enjoy that special celebration together.

About Finchcocks Oast

This is a stunning large holiday house in a spectacular position, surrounded by the rolling countryside of the Weald of Kent.

The Oast is spacious and light with extremely adaptable accommodation planned over two floors and offers every luxury you could wish for. There are exposed beams, double height living spaces, and beautiful oak flooring all adding to the natural ambiance of this very special building. Each bedroom has its own luxurious en-suite bathroom and/or shower room.

A stunningly large and state of the art kitchen has space for all and makes catering for larger groups easy. With its separate utility room, many kitchen aids and a hotel standard dishwasher, coping with entertaining on a grand scale becomes much simpler. Adjacent to the kitchen there is a large dining table, which when added to by either of two other large dining tables, allows everyone to be seated together and enjoy that special dinner. Should you choose to have caterers, please let us know and we will provide you with a selection of local options.

The large living space on the first floor has several seating areas and leads onto a wonderful balcony area, where you can extend your celebrations out into the lovely Kent countryside that surrounds The Oast.

A striking feature of Finchcocks Oast, is the unusual (in number) set of six eye-catching white ‘cowls’ that dominate the property. These were originally used to help dry the hops after they were brought in from the fields, and are a very typical feature of the Kent countryside. Now, with the cowls still able to turn in the wind, they have been opened up internally to emphasise the soaring heights of the building, with stunning contemporary lighting used to emphasise their interesting and quirky shape.

There is lots of space for all throughout this spectacular holiday home, with seating areas both up and down stairs and doors leading from the main living space on the first floor to a large balcony from which you can enjoy the wonderful far reaching views that stretch over the surrounding countryside.

With an outdoor heated swimming pool, a tennis court, table tennis, badminton and many other features to help you relax, you will hardly need your car at all!

Each bedroom is large and comes with a wardrobe, dressing table and chest of drawers. All bedrooms are en-suite with each providing a walk-in shower, wc and basin. In addition, each of double bedrooms 1, 2 and 3 en-suites also come with a bath.

From the entrance area the stairway rises up to the first floor, which, as well as leading to two large double bedrooms, also opens out onto a very spacious and cosy living area with a number of seating options, a further Smart TV with Sky Stream, and a gas-heated stove for those cooler evenings. The living area has been specifically designed to accommodate dining for everyone in your group, thereby allowing all guests to sit down and enjoy that special occasion together.

The Local Village of Goudhurst

Finchcocks Oast is located on the outskirts of Goudhurst, one of the prettiest villages in the Weald of Kent, with charming period cottages overlooking a village pond with a fountain and friendly ducks. The winding village high street leads up to St Mary’s Church which dates back to the 12th century and Henry I, and overlooks antique shops, tearooms, restaurants and pubs.

The village is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside with The Oast situated down in the valley, a little less than 2 miles away and next to Finchcocks, a fine Georgian manor house, previously a Music Museum and now a private residence. The white cowls of Finchcocks Oast and the Finchcocks manor house are clearly visible in the distance as you head downhill out of Goudhurst. There is also a renowned gastro pub within walking distance of The Oast.

This area of Kent is renowned for its vineyards, several of which are open to the public for tours and visits, and even the odd tasting as well. The beautiful Georgian Spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is just 10 miles away with its stunning architecture, excellent shopping centre and of course you can take in the health-giving spring water that the town is renowned for.

There are many things to do in the area from visiting the National Trust’s fairytale castle at nearby Scotney Castle or the wonderful gardens of Sissinghurst Castle, to exploring nearby Bedgebury Pinetum, with its extensive walks, visitor centre and world renowned conifer collection. For the more adventurous, Bedgebury also offers challenging mountain-bike trails, and Go-Ape, the exciting zip line and treetop walk experience. Bewl Water, also within a few miles, offers cycling, power boating, water sports, and hydroballing and more, or choose to bike or walk the 13 mile track that laps this family-friendly reservoir.
